What is the recommended oil weight for a 6.6-liter duramax diesel motor? For a 2007 Chevy Silverado.?

I plan on using mobil one synthetic oil. Its my first time changing my oil on my truck should I do anything different from when I change the oil on a standard gas motor? What is the recommended oil weight for a 6.6-liter duramax diesel motor? For a 2007 Chevy Silverado.?
15w-40 weight is what you should use and always change your oil filter WIX is the way to go, hand tighten filter, dip your finger in clean oil and go around your gasket of oil filter before installing, its all the same when changing oil, but make sure you know how many qt's it takes and do not over fill. And hell while your at it i'd check the fuel and air filter now that your hoods open..... Oh i change my oil every 3,000-5,000 miles, but i run my trucks pretty hard (farm work). What is the recommended oil weight for a 6.6-liter duramax diesel motor? For a 2007 Chevy Silverado.?
15-40, the same for all diesel engines, except for the N/A VW 2.4.
owners manual will have it listed
Most Diesel in pickup trucks require 20/40 weight.Be prepaired check owners manual, also you should check manuel for oil capacities every diesel required far more oil than a gasoline engine.Changing the oil itself is no different then gas engine
you should use any weight oil you like in your diesel as long as it is rated xd-3 usually the best is 15w40. but i'm not to sure about synthetic for diesels. the only thing i would do different about changing the oil would be to fill the new filter with oil before installing it, making sure to coat the seal with oil. also with a diesel, change the fuel filter.(saves a lot of headackes.
Your Duramax calls for a high quality 15W - 40 diesel engine oil. Please change the oil filter with an AC-Delco or a Wix brand. Get in the habit of following your service schedule - fuel filters in perticular.
