There oil is being sold to Asia and we are paying more at the pump and there has never been a war over oil in the history of the world. Never mind that there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that they are profiting at all. This entire place is full of people shouting and accusing one anouther of things. It sometimes goes so long that people make things up to try and get a bigger stance in arguments. That is one example. Its just arguing, I wouldn't pay it much thought.

The theory was never that we went to ';steal their oil';. The theory was that we went to replace their government with an America-friendly government that wouldn't have a possibility of cutting off their oil shipments to us.

And, no, we don't want to ';steal'; Iraqi oil, we want to ';privatize'; it---under our own companies' ownership!
Neocon Republicans are in this way above their heads. They tried to play the ';we're superior and take what we want'; game but it backfired. Because we live in a global society, no other region is going to tolerate that stupid game.





This is the first major war for oil, others involved tribes which were squashed by the US. Then there are wars involved with stealing natural resources, and canals, as with Panama, and subjugating people for use by corporations, as with Haiti. But those weren't major trillion dollar wars.

You really need to do some reading and some research. The US has a history of involvement in the middle east because we're such huge oil consumers, the middle east has most of the world's oil, and we're looking after our own interests, as nations tend to do.





Do you know what happened with the shah of Iran? Do you know why and how the US supported him? Do you know anything about other involvements the US has had in the region? I would suggest you look these things up in order to gain a better understanding of the history of the US's role in middle east affairs.





Oil was not the ONLY reason the US invaded Iraq. But it was certainly a big reason.





Also, if you're going to call people stupid or brainless, you should try to spell correctly. Otherwise, you just look silly.
We went to Iraq so Bush's daddy and his friends could steal our money. So far over half a Trillion. The greatest scam of all time.
I dont know what liberals think but anyone with a mind can see for themselves the US is in iraq because Saddam wanted to accept Euros for oil from 1999 onwards.


Hell even the prime minister of Malaysia recommended the Arabs accept only gold for oil a few years ago!!! Bush/Cheney originally claimed that Iraqi oil revenues would pay for the entire war and liberal nation building. That was absolutely false. A blatant lie. Oil production is lower than pre-war levels. A large amount is stolen. Iraqi politicians cannot agree on oil revenue sharing. It is a failed colonial attempt.

No, we are not there to STEAL the oil. We are there because we (I should say the illegitimate Bush regime) wanted to get rid of Saddam to put a permanent US presence in the Middle East other than Israel. Oil is still a big part of it. The intention was to setup a pro-US government there that will provide us with all the oil the big-business cronies want.





Also, the person asking this question also has no idea what the difference between ';there'; and ';their'; is....
Have you read or heard about the Draft Hydrocarbon Law that will put foreign oil executives into permanent seats on the new Iraqi Oil Council?





That's the law ';for sharing oil revenues'; they keep talking about, but what it really does is permit the profits from the exploitation of Iraq's natural resources to be exported into the accounts of multinational oil companies instead of keeping them within Iraq.
You completely miss the point... The US went to Irak to close the supply of oil to Europe, thus avoiding Europe to get a larger strategic ressource reservoir. Saddam did get a deal with the french oil company Total (through a Canadian business friend very close to Saddam, but that I won't name here). So the US, seeing the new Euro zone a possible economic opponent capable to surclass them, has closed the supply to the Europeen countries and open it to lesser ';evils'; customers... Why do you think that the US did have to go alone by itself, and that his only real ally, was Britain (that is not part of the Euro zone). As for the Italian, they went there just because the American Mafia was involved (Italy is the worst corrupted country in Europe so they can be purchased...)
