Yes OIL production has PEEKED as was prodicted in 1970..





The US ignored this and many other predictions but now we know

And yet the US is still the 3rd largest oil producer in the world. That should tell you something. Many of these oil fields now being drilled in the upper midwest have been known about for 40 years but because it is oil shale (much more expense to extract and does not bring top dollar on the foreign markets) and because until recently the price has not made going after it worthwhile. Opening up all of the offshore areas (you should be aware that the Gulf of Mexico has thousands of wells being drilled) would have no effect for 5 years minimum and even then the impact of total barrels of production would be minor in comparison to the world markets. Many make it sound like if only we had all offshore ares open we would be indpendent from foreign oil, gas at the pump would be back to $2 per gallon, and all would be well. You're dreaming.

Especially since we are the largest user.. But we can make our own fuels viable at $4.50 a gallon... we need to start supplementing with something NOW! and Im not big on switching to natural gas ALA T .Boone Pickens......since my family depends on it for heating during the cold Minnesota winter..

I try desparately to not let the stupidity and myopia of the democrats get to me. Their actions in the past have REALLY hurt this country and now that they're in charge, they're doing their best to kill us outright. Pelosi won't lift the ban on drilling nor will she rewrite the EPA standards allowing more refineries. She DID however, outlaw the incandescent lightbulb, siting too many flourocarbons being emitted, in favor of the mini-flourescent which has mercury in it. She thinks she's being ';Green.'; Brilliant.


Thirty years ago, the Dem.s told us that within the next five to ten years there would be no more oil... Ala Jimmy Carter the lemon president.
Many of us have wondered for years why so many wells are capped in Texas.
No because we've been told for at least the last 30 years that we are running out of oil.





Of course production is going to go down because the big oil companies have to make the most of what they've got left.

Absolutely, that's why we need to drill, NOW!!! Why on Earth won't the democrats allow us to drill or are they just waiting until a democratic president gets in office and then they can say it was their idea. Call your Congressmen now and tell them you want them to ok new drilling.
No. Recoverable crude has been falling for a very long time. The ..big.. pools of oil in this country have been tapped, and retapped, and I believe we are steam injecting to retapp again.





Per new discoveries. Even in Alaska or offshore.. there is nothing.. nothing big enough to deal with our need for portable energy. Batteries have reached a limit they may not go beyond and frankly, it is pie in the sky to suggest something may happen and give a break through.





We need nuclear power for stationary energy. We need hydrogen for portable fuel. We have both.. we need to develop both.
