Myth or Fact: Most of the oil we use is to make plastic, not gasoline.?

I've heard this several times, but every time oil is mentioned in the media, it's associated with gasoline. Anyone know the facts %26amp; maybe have a good link? Thanks!Myth or Fact: Most of the oil we use is to make plastic, not gasoline.?
Myth. Most is used for energy (gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, kerosene, propane etc.). I'm sure you can find a more detailed breakdown if you look hard enough.Myth or Fact: Most of the oil we use is to make plastic, not gasoline.?
as far as i know the single biggest ';spirit'; to come out of distilling oil is usually gasolines. not all oil is the same the ratio of things that come out of it/quality differs from field to field. diesel is like 15% of it usually i think and gas is like 20% or more. it is used for plastic too but i think the demand per volume of plastic is far less than gas. im not 100% certain though sorry. i think that even road tar is more than plastics though.
