People keep debating if the war is for oil or not, how do I find the facts so I can decide for myself?

I asked who controls the oil now, and even then I got completely different answers. Where do I find the facts?People keep debating if the war is for oil or not, how do I find the facts so I can decide for myself?
Spend some time on a search engine. If you want a look at the dynamics between a number the most influential people in todays ameican politcs read '; Rise of the Vulcans'; by James MannPeople keep debating if the war is for oil or not, how do I find the facts so I can decide for myself?
Dear Readers,

First may I say this is an important and interesting question, however it is one of few that nobody seems to get involved with, maybe, this fact is part of the answer. I would like to see a full broad based discussion on this subject. Report Abuse

You will get only opinions. Things like this usually have facts withheld from us.

I can get the conversation transcripts from October 1962 from the Oval Office when Kennedy was thinking about striking Cuba. Do you think that I could get that in the sixties or seventies, even with the internet? Fat chance.

The facts will only surface when they don't matter anymore.
Let history be your guide - if oil were the objective, consider, we didn't keep Kuwait after we drove the Iraqis out, nor did we obliterate the OPEC nations in the early 70's when their embargo essentially crippled our economy.

These nations are rich because we pay dearly for their resource - and always have.
Perhaps this will convince you. This is something that nobody else in the world have noticed except ME. While building up the case for war, mass hysteria was created in the USA by frightening people about germ warfare being used by terrorists by the way of dirty letters remember? If they were actually the work of terrorists why are'nt they still being delivered, why did they stop after the war started,
Get in your vehicle, drive to the nearest gas station, notice the price, then come back and tell me you think the war was fought for oil...
Here is a good chart from the Energy Information Administration.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/mer/pdf/pages/sec3_8.pdf

It shows you various data about our importation of crude and petroleum over the last four years or so.

Solid data from a reliable source. Good luck on your quest to figure things out. My thoughts: It was not for oil. It was for something else.
Check out the following timeline, all from credible new sources, and you tell me what you think...

Really read it before you make up your mind. Only one real conclusion can be drawn.

ADDITION!!!

And to those people who say that oil has gone up in price since the war as their justification that we are NOT there for oil, you are wrong.

#1 We haven't been there long enough to get any of Iraq's oil, so it wouldn't affect the price yet.

#2 Oil prices are steady as compared to GOLD over the last 4-5 years. Both oil and gold have gone up in price during that time BECAUSE THE U.S. DOLLAR HAS GONE DOWN IN VALUE by almost 50%. Therefore, our oil/gas prices have almost doubled.
no it is for oil its running out and bush even admited it at one point but all forget
A) Follow the money

B) Follow the history of rationales and the exact moments when they were executed.

C) Make sure to read the PNAC position papers available on their website, because most of the signers of those documents ended up highly-placed in the first Bush 43 administration, and they were deeply involved in planning and executing the war.

D) Look into the proposed Iraq Hydrocarbons Law.
Look at a gas pump.

If we siezed Iraq for its oil wealth, then our gas will average about a buck a gallon.

Does it?

There's your answer, now aren't you smarter?!
It is widely and extremely well known all over the world that Iraqi war is for oil. Somehow only in US ';people'; are still debating. Funny isn't it?
You can read the Baker Institute reports and research how Saddam stopped using petrodollars and started using petroeuros. Those are good places to start.

For instance, the 2001 Baker Institute “Strategic Energy Policy Challenges for the 21st Century,” report stated:

“Saddam Hussein has also demonstrated a willingness to threaten to use the oil weapon and to use his own export program to manipulate oil markets.”

”The United States should conduct an immediate policy review toward Iraq, including military, energy, economic, and political/diplomatic assessments.';

Understanding the background and the views of the Bush administration neoconservatives concerning the control of Iraqi oil will help you decide for yourself.
Yes.

Look at Gas Prices.

Does that look like we are getting Free Oil?

The ONLY people that say that the war was for oil---- are the Terrorists, and their Supporters.

The Terrorists have a lot of Democrat Supporters.
Ask a liberal. They know everything.

edit:

(See, they're giving me thumbs down! lmao)
