I have read in many places that most baby oil will not clog pores I have even read in the magazine Dermatology Today January 2001 edition that it does not clog pores.. but what are all the facts of baby oil regarding your skin...Please can someone give me the striaght up facts... not hype on baby oil?
all i know is that i like to put it in my hot baths and soak in it. when i get out i am so soft. but i have very hard water that drys out my skin. they will not make something for babies that is not safe for babies.Please can someone give me the striaght up facts... not hype on baby oil?
Basically baby oil is a formula which is designed to not clog pores. This is why it is originally created for babies as they need clearer skin from a younger age.
Baby oil is just mineral oil with some added fragrances.
mineral oil is a by-product of petroleum distillation.
It's mostly composed of alkanes (hydrocarbons....like methane, hexane, and octane)
Sooo....all alkanes are completely drenched with hydrogen. The hydrocarbons usually have between 15-40 carbons involved with no double bonds aka pure hydrocarbons!
This all means that instead of the skins pores being clogged its helping to get rid of dirt and toxins to leave the skin clearer and give the pores ';room to breathe';

Baby oil is actually cosmetic grade mineral oil. Studies and clinical tests show Mineral oil is non-comedogenic (meaning they do not ';clog pores';)
