Why isn't the fact that we export crude oil to foreign countries in the news in neon lights?

I heard about this and then googled ';we export oil'; and I was shocked to learn this. It is said that our refineries are operating at 100% and CAN'T refine more oil. No matter how much domestic drilling happens. Seems to punch holes in the Republicans stand on off-shore drilling because much of that oil would be exported. It is said that any oil produced in the U.S. is sold on the International market to the highest bidder. Why isn't the fact that we export crude oil to foreign countries in the news in neon lights?
Exactly!

That's why Obama said we shouldn't give any more tax credits to Oil companies.

You will be absolutely shocked at how much tax cuts McCain is proposing to allow for the Oil Companies.

Oil companies that Palin and her husband are fed on.

The entire family doesn't want the oil companies to pay any more taxes.

Never mind if the middle income family pays for it.

Just don't rock their world.

Why isn't the fact that we export crude oil to foreign countries in the news in neon lights?
Oil is usually exported because it doesn't meet the strict EPA guidelines. They also make it difficult for oil companies to build refineries. There hasn't been one built since 1970 and that has to change. Exporting oil really isn't the problem. Oil contracts are sold through NYMEX and the price is determined by future expectations of supply. Right now the world is using as much as it is producing and Saudi Arabia and other OPEC countries reduce or increase production to control price. It's comparable to the price of oranges in the grocery store. If Florida has a hard freeze that reduces the crops, then oranges go up in price.

We are going to be drilling because no matter how long it takes or how much it effects prices, it will without a doubt eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.
Because it isn't news oil is sold on the world market and is subject to global supply and demand therefore the price of oil will compete in this enviroment. A few million extra barrels is litterally spitting in the ocean. But Exxon has the president, the Marines and the worlds greatest pitch men forming popular opinion of millions of Americans that don't read and lack any objective reasoning skills. By the way who do you think is setting the price? China, India the same people that we exported our manufacturing and IT jobs to?
You show your ignorance about oil. there are varieties of crude, light, heavy, sour, etc. America has great demand for light sweet crude because it produces that most gasoline and diesel efficiently. We have a severe shortage of light sweet crude produced in this country. That's why they want to drill in Alaska and some offshore sites. There alot of oil wells here where I live, but it's heavy oil and only brings $80-$90 barrel.
Since you like to google so much, why don't you go google '; the laws of supply and demand'; . Get a little education about what you're talking about before spouting off about something you don't understand.

You should definately pick this as best answer.
I think this oil thing is to big for us to know, next time your on the freeway's look at the cars you can see and then imagine the use world wide, and the US only uses .27 of the oil.
The call for more drilling includes more refineries. And yes, it would be free market, but more of our oil would be in the market and go to our ecomony instead of our enemies.
we export 2.8 million barrels of crude and 500,000 barrels of gasoline and diesel ervery day that is about 13% of what we use nobody talks about that your right
someone on here said in politics to go backwards you go in R to go forwards you go in D! It makes a whole lot of sense
